Early am, we drove up to Stechelberg and walked back to Lauterbrunnen, where we secured an apartment for the evening.

We drove up the mountain and took the train to Murren, walked around and saw that everything was closed until Dec 21!   We wanted to take the vertical train to Shilthorn (2970 meters) but decided not to spend the 55 Sfr each if it was closed up there.  

  

We returned to our apartment and had supper with groceries we bought at the local Co-op – sausage and sauerkraut and German bread! 

Here is a picture taken from our room.  The falls were spectacular.

 

 

At 5:30 pm or so, we drove to Grindelwald, and walked through the streets – nearly everything was closed at 6:30.
